Training Log: Entry 59

Got a photo from the WA throwdown

I'm the guy on the left if you can't tell.

For the first time in my life, I can see my abs.  It's very interesting.  I was always a fat kid, so this is a first.  I'm wondering if I should try for the 6 pack, or start bulking.  If I cut my bf% down, I could fight in a lighter weight class for the tourney.  I dunno if that's what I wanna do or not though, and field training will also take off some weight.  It's an interesting circumstance.

Strength is through the roof.  I'm lifting more now than I have ever been able to do before, and paired with the reduced weight, I'm stronger proprtionally now more than ever.

  1. Awesome, just wish it was a bigger picture. I think you should bulk and not concentrate on a six-pack. I've been bulking for a year and I've got good gains, and the routine I'm on still requires some cardio, so I haven't put on fat really. If anything my abs have developed along with the other muscles and they've just become more visible Perhaps you could set-up a routine that can do both. Also, I don't know how developed your abs are but if you want them bigger then I'd suggest weighted crunches once a week. But it's just probably just fat covering them, right? Anyways, looking forward to any possible videos.

  2. I already do weighted crunches, along with BWE crunches.  It's not possible to set up a routine that is both bulking and cutting: I'd have to divert my focus from one to the other.
Yeah, that picture sucks.  The one on bullshido is better, but you need to have an account to view it.

  3. I have an account on bullshido, I'll check it out.
Which one are you leaning towards? I actually changed my mind, if you say your strength is better than ever then perhaps it'd be a good time to cut.

  4. I'm thinking I'll at least cut while the tourney comes up.  I might bulk before field training, just because I'll prolly lose a bit of weight there.
I hate bulking because I need cardio.  I don't ever like letting mine slip.

  5. I know exactly what you mean. I just feel like I've been slacking off if I don't get some running done.
Also, since it's before a tourney, wouldn't a lot of cardio do good in raising your endurance? (Or is that not an issue for you? I need to work on that because I get tired fast)

  7. The picture looks awesome.  I am happy to hear about how well your strengthening is going and that you are happy that you can see your abs.  I know how it is to be the chubby kid growing up.  An awesome example of what you can do when you put hard work and dedication into something.  You're constantly amazing me.  Take care.  Keep up the good work.  ~Aloha~
