Training Log: Entry 157


Lower back is still bugging me, but the pain has moved lower due to poor posture.  Have taken it light on exercise.  No squats today, just leg press, leg curl, leg extension, calf raise, and maybe lunge.


Can't wait to start training.


First MMA club meeting was a bust.  People forgot.  Need to crack some skulls.

  1. I was reading your training log and I saw you did "shadowboxing with weight." Do you mean you were holding weights and shadowboxing? Cause I've heard from a lot of people that this can actually slow down striking speed. It's not concrete info though.
    You seem to really know what you're doing though. Good luck with your MMA career.

  2. I've heard the opposite: that it increases striking speed.  Although I was doing it mainly for the muscular endurance and the cardio.

  3. It actually doesn't do anything for speed, because gravity is going down. All it does is fatigue your anterior delts because you are moving it in a front raise motion.You'd be better off using resistance bands or a cable machine to do that, but even then it still wouldn't be as good. Well now that it is xmas break, it is time for me to start posting more.  I hope your back gets better.  I know what a pain that injury is.  I am really excited to hear about your training this break.  It sounds like it is gonna be pretty intense.  Take care of yourself!!!  I love you! ~aloha~
